Fun Dog Fact of the Day: Pugs, due to the selective breeding that gives them their iconic appearance, have breathing problems stemming from their scrunched-up snout and eye infections stemming from their lack of brow ridges. As an example, here’s a pug from 2003 compared to the same breed in the 19th century.

More recently, some breeders have focused on breeding “retro pugs”, which try to restore their non-wrinkly appearance.

Shame you have to market fixing man's mistake as a "retro" look.

Vaguely reminds me of this comic I saw on a meme site, where two aliens were walking their humans- and one of them was a deformed, sniveling abomination, with its owner talking about how cute she found the deformities. Last panel was the same "aliens" as people with their dogs, the deformed one being a pug.

When I saw the update in my feed I thought "Heartwarming: Mangaka depicts positive portrayal of the inbred", but making him an oji-san is on brand too.
All things considered, still not a fan of the breed, but my neighbor had one and he was very chill.

I'm glad for this reveal and I am glad she is committed to love even though it's rough.

I'm a hater for humans who fuck up the health and wellbeing of animals for 'cute' or 'purebred' factor

Holy f-

Alright that reveal threw me off. I didn't know what to expect and I still got mixed. She's got a old man with her, belly warmer n' all, but at least she still loves em.

Also fuck breeders. How the hell did you even "selectively" get to this point and say "yeah that's good". Ridiculous.

Thanks for the chapter.

Kinda refreshing to see a dog that doesn't look like Gothic beauty!

Last chapter was really dangerous DX

Humans are such garbage, we are trying to restore their appearance for fashion and aesthetics, not because it would be more healthy for the dogs to not have their faces bashed inward
