Unfortunately, big companies don't care about game preservation. They want games on the cloud, just like movies.

And just like movies they'll yank stuff off the services when they feel like it.

IMO any service operating in the clearnet that in gets in the way of corporate profit will eventually be taken down. Not sure what exactly happened to them but I would like to think 390TB of games won't just disappear, I think it would likely reappear on the darkweb or I2P maybe under a different name. Though, I only really understand the surface level details of these subjects, essentially many services like these would be better off operating in environments that are free from corporate (and therefore, governmental) pressure.

Imagine if mangadex didn't have to deal with corporate bullshit.

Just learned they're shutting down due to exploding storage costs so my point is somewhat irrelevant as any internet service would be effected by this.

For games I just use sites once to download a few, then not look back, not to mention that those sites tend to be full o' A(I)DS anyways

Aw i never heard of it but it always sucks to hear about archive shitting down. When i googled the first article seemed to mention that some people are working on moving the data to internet archive so some stuff might be saved

The storage cost exploded... When big Microsoft grabbed their hands on every memory available for their machines computation power.

Now we cannot get free storage... Except for burning in CDs.
