When the manga came out, it said it was a comedy about two siblings. Nowhere did it say that there was going to be a scene in mountain hot springs.

People really need to stop quoting this as if it isn't missing massive context. The National age of consent is 16 but pretty much EVERY province has their own age of consent which is higher. The age of consent in major areas like Kyoto/Tokyo/etc. is 18 and you should treat that as the de facto age of consent given its also the age you need to be to purchase pornographic materials as well. The national age being 16 is just a catchall to ensure a limit in case someone tries to be cheeky.

Tangent aside, Mochizuki is rapidly becoming irredeemable. The fact that she fabricated having family troubles (or at the very least weaponized it) to exploit Takenaka's best boy attributes to get closer to her mark is some full blown sociopath shit. Now she's molesting someone she JUST MET to try and make Komaru uncomfortable to take advantage of her as well. I wasn't sold on Nakata before but fuck me if she isn't worlds better than Mochizuki. New ship is Nakata + Takenaka, both are the best characters in this manga and deserve each other.

That said, Takenaka...buddy. You can't be calling out the Pervert Rehabilitation plan to Tanuki while you have your face buried in his ass cheeks my dude. Come on now.

The point of the quote was to poke fun at the absurdity of our objective reality, not to try to "Erm but☝️🤓" anyone. The fact that 16 is the baseline that the society has enshrined in law won't change unless they vote in someone who will actually make sweeping changes--something conservative Japan is so unlikely to do that they have memes about it.
