This artist is such a one trick pony. All they do is torture their characters for the sake of TRAGEDY

the stupidity of this forum... Junji Ito only wrote horror; that was his "one trick." Oda writes one manga - "One Piece" - that's his "one trick." You morons don't even know what it means to be a "one-trick pony."

I disagree with the people saying this manga is "pointless." I like it more than dekinai-ko at least, but further than that, I think a lot of representations of parents in most popular media is very black and white, and this comic portrays a far more gray outlook.
Like, the father is still awful for hitting the child & choosing pachinko over the festival (the blacked out face, compared to the kid's innocent face making a petty insult, honestly scared me for a moment) but this is a portrayal of the modern world. Irl there is rarely any consequence for this abuse, and these kinds of complex parent child dynamics where the child depends on the parent & loves the parent despite the abuse often forms.
It's a sad and difficult reality but it's something that should be talked & written about and acknowledged so that change can be made.

Basically, I like this one. Thank you for the translation!
