A pretty mid manga but I still want to read the ending. What is holding back Scans to translate this series? did scans drop it cause it was that mid? prolly

I found the story really interesting! I loved how they're slowly growing closer together even though rhe friend card is still being played. I'm exited to see how it ends!

Ended up buying the raws and read the whole thing. Adorable manga, the main couple’s synergy was really cute and it was a nice ending. Was a little sad when it ended but it definitely didn’t feel like this dragged on at all.

The newer chapters are just a mess now lol, two that are not in any volume and the new scanlators are all over the place. Maybe it could get cleaned up a bit?

This is so shit it’s hard to describe. Reading the first half of the chapters, I was genuinely excited for an interesting love story where one person tries too hard to become something he isn’t to please someone who is dear to him, while the girl would realize that her dumb attempt to change him completely would only lead to her losing the only person she genuinely felt comfortable and at home with.

And God, how much I hate the MC’s design after the change. It’s the most basic, boring Japanese MC design possible.

Now I am confused. The comments here say it's not good, but its score is 8.5. I usually trust Mangadex's score, and cliche story usually scored around 7.2. Score > 8 is usually good.

Would be great if someone who already read ahead can answer me. There has to be a reason why it scored as high as 8.5.

Even though it started as the typical "otaku guy with a popular girl", i like how they really have this chemistry and not like "the popular girl suddenly liking the mc for no reason" thing (i guess it helps bc they're childhood friends). But i also really like how the mc may be an otaku, but he's not a gloomy antisocial guy and willing to change for fmc. As of now ive read 48 chapters and really been enjoying it. Looking forward for more.

The setup is really generic with all the “fake dating” bs but I enjoyed the story for what it is.

Pros:
The characters (at least the mc’s) feel real and I also appreciated how realistic and believable their dynamic is as childhood friends. I also really appreciate the sincerity they share in their relationship as friends. They deeply care about each other and MC comes across as genuinely giving a shit about his friend and is rather social when need be which is more than i can say for a lot of these romance mangas with “loser protags” which annoy me. The romantic development also feel natural if you ignore the contrived setups (will touch later) and you can see the MC has a lot of redeeming qualities that separate this from “chud x popular girl” slop romances.

Cons:
Personally I disliked the fact that he was “forced” to “transform” because nobody should be forced to change for someone else, and also because it perpetuates the idea that “handsome” means “more suitable partner” in people’s eyes. Although I did find it endearing that his change is self-inflicted because of his sincere wish to help his friend as well as the fact that the “change” isn’t what he thinks she wants but what she wants for him which I thought was pretty cute. I also really dislike the unrealistic nature of certain setups. Like I understand u need a device to force the characters to play the role of a fake relationship and its a romcom but like there’s levels to this shit. Seriously, a girl pressing the validity of a CLEAR relationship because of the words of a fortune teller is so strange to me. I personally would never question my friends relationship if they were happy w/ each other this was really weird to me. The comedy aspect is nothing special.

Tldr; its lowkey slop but its tasty slop
if you’re looking for intellectually stimulating content this ain't it especially because of the crazy amounts of missed potential for a story about the harms of changing yourself for others. but for a cliche romance story I was pleasantly surprised. 8/10 overall.

it's not as bad as many comments say. Well a generic premise sure but it really feels nice cus they sincerely care about each other, unlike many other manga where they act like shit ignoring how they feel and stuff.
It was pretty decent for most of the part, and really cute too, promising and great potential.
Sadly somewhere along the way it became meh. the art style even the story changed it seems, as if someone else wrote it other than the prev author(idk). and the stuff didn't resonate as intensely as ones from the prev chapters. I'm not really a critic but for me seemed like the ending with the kusakabe shit was a rly bad choice.
Could've been looooots better. somewhat disappointed as until a point it's one of the best childhood friend stuff I've ever read.
