Save yourself the headaches and just ignore those people. These are the same people who scraped the forums so they can look for wrongthink in posts you made years ago. If you don't know what 'scraped the forums' means, it means they used a bot to save every forum post.

Found it: https://mangadex.org/thread/255249/2

It's the comment above mine that says:
Code:
>Somehow finds a comment you made 2 years ago
There's no search feature which means jannies scraped the forums so they can search through it themselves.

Currently the tags available are for genres that are intended to be read by heterosexuals or the sex opposite of the featured same sex couple.
That's not entirely true. While that is indeed the case with yaoi, yuri is very diverse and encompasses everything from fap fodder for guys to serious drama for lesbians.

But as comeonnow0 said (and you pretty much pointed out yourself), it's a niche genre in a niche genre. Not to mention that the separation isn't always clean and with some works it'd be hard to judge whether they should get the hypothetical LGBT-friendly tags.

I'd be in favor of a bara tag, since it's a genre separate from yaoi, but other than that, I can't really see it working.

@hellknightofdeath
Just coming in from outside your little bubble here to tell you you all sound completely insane. OP excluded (not for being sane, but for not being insane). Not gonna elaborate. Not gonna post in this thread again.
If that's your reaction to this thread, I'd like to see how you react to a thread that really goes insane. Really, all things considered (particularly considering how threads like that tend to go), it's been extremely civil here.

Shine on us your virtue diamond.

So much stupid shit in the original post (in relation to lesbian side of things at least) that it became super obvious super fast what the op is trying to do. Listen hun, you're not making a change, you don't matter, and you don't get to feel better about yourself for online crusading something that is a non-issue.

Try to introduce that feature on ds shitbog first, because last time I'd checked even there they didn't use such differentiation.

Social Justice does not work on the internet.

If you are displeased that a service does not support what you believe is socially just or fair then don't use the service.

Stop complaining when you have contributed little to nothing on a service that asks little to nothing. If you really want these changes go and find a domain and create your own site with your preferential genres and fairness or become influential enough on the platform to enact change.

Anything less than actively taking mindful action to bring about meaningful change is just virtue signalling and is more annoying than helpful.

Sorry for the long post Covid and the uncalled for dramas and virtue signalling it brought has started to annoy me.

God I hate millenials and z-ers.

New entries are welcome.

I feel like many of the replies are very dismissive and... oddly aggressive in their opposition to the idea. It was a suggestion that doesn't attack anyone...
I think mangaupdates does do a good job with their LGBTQ tags. However, I don't use mangaupdates to search for manga to read because much of it is untranslated and can't be read. I think I can understand the desire for a similar LGBTQ tag in Mangadex.

Then I ask again - why not try introducing that idea to THE LGBTQABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ site that is dynasty first? Feels like they they would have much more vested interest in that sort of categorization given that a) they cater exclusively to women interested in other women* and b) as it'd been already brought in that thread, yuri isn't as cut and dry as bl is when it comes to who's the intended readership demographics.

*at some point they were hosting all different types of mango, but that had changed about five years and currently only gl uploads are permitted - unless part of an anthology or something

@Makecake the replies are dismissive only because this is a prevailing issue in the current social environment that is being perpetually brought up as a critical social movement in all forms of media and socioeconomic constructs.

When truly LGBTQ+ content need not be included nor catered for and that is a fact for any form of creation. If there is no overwhelming call or need for something or if there exist an already inclusive (albeit vague category) there is no need to advocate for something sheerly because you find it inconvenient that it doesn't exist but you're too lazy to do more than say "Someone else, do something about this." Or "It isn't right that it isn't there, put it in."

It is aggressive because people are tired of this topical hot take that means nothing and should not necessarily permeate every form of media but the loudest advocates or rather entitled keyboard warriors feel the need to mention it whenever there is the slight opportunity to call "unfairness" or "lack of inclusion/ purposeful exclusion" as if the world will end if people are not made aware of social injustice.

I'm invested in this thread simply because while I support the LGBTQ+ community in my daily life and freely share my opinion regarding what is right about the movement, it annoys me when someone complains about an aspect which allows ammunition for those seeking to undermine any aspect of a movement.

You're only as strong as your weakest link and this is true especially for things such as social movements, because if current affairs have shown anything is that they will use whatever they can to undermine a cause even if it has nothing to do with the core values or ideology of the cause.

I get that LGBTQ+ is a nice to have when you are interested in reading about it but it is an entitled request which undermines a cause that in a lot of places are still struggling to be accepted as a norm. You're giving people excuses to undermine something before they understand it.

Of course I have gone completely off topic and I might seem salty and maybe I am. I'm just trying to inform you of the narrative from my perspective when looking at stuff like this. It's like how my parents pisses me off when they watch TV and judge people because of the sexual classification of their relationship.

By complaining about non-consequential and entitled things you create a prejudice. Look at the Karen's, Feminazis and all other forms of prejudice or classification which permeates our modern society.

You can disagree with me and even tell me I'm stupid for making this political but in many countries the LGBTQ+ movement is still in it's prenatal state and stuff like this fuels the naysayers. Anyhow I'm gonna stop now otherwise people might hate me and this is the internet so this will most likely be disregarded but if it gets 1 person thinking or simply formulating a argument then my job is done.

Sorry OP but it's going to be a pass for me, not because I'm against LGBT stuff but because it seems like a suggestion that isn't really necessary for this type of stuff, if you're posting about not being able to find exactly what you're looking for then sucks for you, there are times when you see something that might interest you just to find out it really isn't to your liking, it happens to all of us it's part of entertainment. If that's the problem you can always ask for recommendations on forums, you might find authors that publish exactly what you're looking for.

Tags are just there to give a general sense of direction, you can add or exclude tags to get a more centered approach but they're not gonna give you the exact thing you're looking for, it's impossible imo, it's up to you to read the work that caught your attention, you can read the synopsis, that what they're for. You don't necesarily need to finish a manga to know if it's to you liking, you can read a few chapters or read some reviews to get an idea.

Sorry if I missed the point OP

What the fuck are some of y'all talking about? This isn't about the greater politics surrounding LGBT+. Adding the bara tag to a manga website isn't going to undermine your local gay community. Your politicians are way better at undermining those communities. Holy fucking shit y'all have lost the plot.

How about no? If you want to read that just go to hentai website. EVEN IF IT'S JUST SUGGESTION, don't think about it or simply go to western site. There are many of that sites if you just search.

Don't need the LGBT tags here, just find some websites that will comply with your request. Not all website is lenient just because of one people or more suggest it.

It's may seem salty, but I guess it okay. Why?
Because it's my opinion

How about actually reading the whole thread if you want to address users disagreeing with its premise as a whole instead of being a bot and using this as an oportunity to signal your tribal affiliation for people googling you in the future hmm hun?

Adding the bara tag to a manga website isn't going to undermine your local gay community.
Because it's crystal fucking clear that you haven't done that.

I think that most of the genre tags are pretty generalized and I don't see much reason to make it more specific. If I went through historical, I could find anything from world war 2 to samurais and I think that's perfectly fine.
