@BestBoy Thanks for all your comments honestly I took a break and browsed through ~3800 of the Yaoi so I"ve been doing that and unfortunately. Honestly while there have been some decent comments most of the rejection seem to come from a large section of people not understanding why Yaoi isnt intended for men in any way necessary. Though there is a small group that are just posting homophobic replies i am ignoring them.
Though its already been rejected I will try to mention that the issue is primarily for Yaoi and has it has already been explained to me the issue is not original to Yuri nor prevalent in it. For those of you that cannot seem to get the idea Yaoi is a specific genre and has a general theme it is not only target too women but the majority of yaoi is written for women in such a way that it makes a decent amount of men who like men slightly uncomfortable.
This is not true for all yaoi but for a large majority of it.
1st alot of the Ukes aren't written as men but as women and even for women they are hyper feminized and their roles the focus is almost solely on that.
2nd. The couples main purpose is that of a sexual or romantic nature and while people may be thinking I only want to read it for the sex I would love if I could sort something that had LGBT characters but didnt focus on sex.
3rd. Alot of the characters in Yaoi while supposedly being LGBT aren't really, theres alot of this concept where "im only gay for you" is popular or that being interested in the same sex in the manga is considered disgusting by the main characters and they don't actually get over this alot this is actually generally harmful to most men interested in the same sex.
There are more issues but i'll stop there.
For that one person telling me to go to a yuri site, the point brought up that yuri isn't nearly as for men as yaoi is for women was a good one. telling me or anyone to visit a site specifically for lgbt content instead of making a recommendation isnt cool. Mentioning the website 100% awesome but the way its being worded is that I shouldnt even be trying to make a suggestion for improvement.
I didn't see mangadexs anti LGBT banner/rule so I think its safe for me to make a suggestion.
thanks
@MakeCake I agree.
As for others, I agree that making tags for LGBT oriented content would be too difficult a task as it would need to be handled by book publishers and readers as whole not this website. That being said Gei-Komi is a legitmate genre in japan while its western equivalent Bara was actually an insult reclaimed and turned into an insult again then adapted by western society as a genre that should be Gei-Komi.
