That was my take as well. He got exactly what he wanted which was to finally retire. Seems the guild and association didn't want him to so they rejected it and then in comes this guy who, yes stole his girlfriend, gives him a way to retire. He took the retirement as a win, but wasn't happy about the girlfriend leaving him as he was doing everything for her and wanted to retire to live a good life WITH her, but what was he supposed to do now about it...fighting back wasn't going to change anything as she had made up her mind.

I also don't think that friend knew ANYTHING about him except that he was an adventurer. Bet the ex was telling the friend that him being an adventurer wasn't good and how the ex didn't like it. So, the friend, not looking into her boyfriend's status at this point just told her to look for someone who has a stable job instead...then conveniently knows this guy who works at the guild with a desk job instead of being an adventurer. Again, she didn't care enough to look up her friend's boyfriend's status or rank because to her how could he be anything less than a bottom feeder anyway?

I'm hoping this story actually commits to not making the ex a terrible person. Like if they want to actually make it seem like Harukaze is slightly at fault for the breakup with him being focused on work and not properly explaining things to her, don't double down on her just being a gold digger. here entire life was built on the MC Reputation. her job was given because she was the MC girlfriend, they will terminate her because of the break up. despite marrying the Ntr guy. the marriage was going nowhere, she was being a gold digger. spending money. even failed at basic housewife duties.

fortunately. she learned her lesson.... much later. after a divorce and learning how dangerous it is being an adventurer. she went back to living with her parents. learning the basic of house duty.

not sure if shes gonna continue being an adventure or not. as the story jumps between different students the MC trains.

she would get a salary cut. which is harsh for her. as she couldn't pay the monthly necessities (like bill and rent). not only that her job would be reduce to janitor duty.

while its the most lenient punishment. it basically the guild telling the receptionist to basically quit her job

as a result she took the job, that she dismissed greatly. being an adventurer.
to apologize to the MC. she went to the MC place. it was entirely different perspective for her. as the MC was living in a penthouse suite. rich for days. making her humble.
the MC doesn't hate her tho, instead give her the same advice as karen. like absorbing the crystal in getting stronger... and smarter.

Agreed, these were ALL things she could have done! He even TOLD HER if she hated it she should have said something, but she didn't. Instead thanks to the receptionist and her own rotten ego, she let herself THINK she "outgrew MC" only to discover "MC outgrew HER, and she did him a FAVOR by leaving as it was CLEAR he just COULDN'T let go of a rotten LOAD on his own!" That's how she will see herself in the end AFTER it finally DAWNS on her the HORRIBLE mistakes she made. Which next time we see her, lets just say she's going to get a SLIGHT TASTE of what she put MC through (The other thing is LATER, but what she'll get is the whole "siccing her NEW MAN in ruining his career as a show of DIFFERENCE" I will say no more other then MC never caused it, this is all on her because her being BLIND to where he brought her also illustrates how she also was BLIND to what ASSOCIATING with him brought HER....and what treating him like crap instead of JUST BREAKING UP amicably brings her! I think was added more to FORESHADOW what is going to happen with her and leads up to "her end fate" in the story (which is finally acknowledging she wasn't a good person like she THOUGHT she was, she never saw her cheating, break up and letting asshole do what he did as BAD but just "how the adult world is, and MC just didn't understand it and needed a HARSH reality!" Only she will discover that world is FULL of consequences as well and turns out "bad people who do selfish horrible things DO tend to suffer Karma! Just cause you don't see it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen! I will say no more! Other then SHE will FINALLY grow up by the end of it!)
