She was cruel and ignorant, sure. However, I do not find her getting fired over the way she handled the break up satisfying because it shows that she's getting punished due to someone's emotions (her boss hating her due to a personal friendship) rather than getting punished for her actions affecting her work (i.e. bad publicity, screwing up at work, creating a bad work environment etc...). The story so far wants to treat her as an ignorant fool who got what she deserved but it isn't doing a good job at it as the punishment is unrelated to the crime.
