Thanks for explaining, good reason to ban them ngl. I checked out their site too and it’s up to chapter 5 but behind a paywall. Kinda fucked up since MD was 2 chapters behind. I understand that they probably want to recoup costs from buying the chapters (doubt they cost much anyways tbh) and labor, but I don’t like the idea of content that is borderline pirated in the first place being used for profit by unofficial translators. Obviously some series never get picked up or it takes years to happen, and in those cases I wouldn’t mind translators setting up something where people can just donate as appreciation for their labor.

That said Asmodeus probably isn’t bleeding money. If they are, they should just let someone else do the translation (thanks Tukii). People who don’t have permission to profit off someone else’s work are the worse types of pirates imo. Not even a fraction of that money will ever see the original author’s pocket. That doesn’t bode well for the manga industry as a whole.
