New features: 2 factor authentication and more genres added

I honestly feel that the genderbender genre was fine as it was before the change. The way it was set up it allowed new works to be discovered by readers and encompassed things that appealed to fans of the genre. If necessary you could keep the genre but add the new themes like crossdressing and genderswap to be searched separately but leave it under the parent genre of genderbender.
Another issue that I have and others have voiced is that by completely getting rid of a tag to denote trans content it makes really hard to find regular updates to the genre, to find new series, and keep track of things. Works like this: https://mangadex.org/title/23612/umareru-seibetsu-wo-machigaeta which is about a transwoman's experience with SRS would be a pain to find series with trans or gender change content if all you have to go on is stuff like seinen, slice of life, and comedy to find the type of content like this. Also uploaders won't get traffic to works because they're not labeled appropriately and people avoid it since it has a theme not included like gender in its classification. Conversely some people avoid certain themes and if mods decide to not include something that could be categorized in the site's filters and they stumble upon a work that has it but it's not listed on the work it likely leads to frustration on their part.
So I guess if people are insistent in breaking apart genderbender I would like to suggest to keep the genre as the parent then have themes to categorize certain subsets. Kind of like fantasy is a genre but isekai is a theme but isekai is still fantasy.
I generally like the site but don't really care for a good chunk of the filter changes. It makes the site more clunky with its search features.

@Matryoshka I'm fairly certain Umareru Seibetsu wo Machigaeta! wasn't listed as gender bender before the change, we already had a precedence for not tagging transgender focused manga with gender bender.

@plykiya Umareru Seibetsu was indeed tagged with Genderbender, which always ticked me off, that's the reason it's blocked to mods edit only. (because I wanted the tag to be removed but it seems MD mods didn't like that)
I always hated that the GB tag was in trans focused stuff, so as a translator that focuses in all these kind of works, I am very glad these changes were made.
Genderbender shouldn't include a manga about a woman being a woman.

@Plykiya question why the removal of Gender Bender? It's my favorite genre, I do like the addition of Crossdress, and Gender Swap, however since the beginning of Translations Gender Bender has been the Tag used for all Trans related Anime and Manga. Which would include Transgender, Crossdressing, Drag King/Queen, Gender Swap, Body Swap with gender, Reincarnated to new Gender, and Mistaken Identity with gender.
As an older Transgender person who reads and watches this tag almost exclusively, why did it get removed? and is there a way to bring back the umbrella search term.

Sorry, but this is silly, over-complicated and counter-productive.
- Complicated instead of simple. If dare to add every single theme that exists you would end with a ridiculously list of over 500 themes, most which would give 1-2 results. Break "comedy" (for example) into 10 different themes will only frustrate people and make harder for them to find more content.
- Now search for manga is more difficult. Since the last reply is about Umareru seibetsu wo machigaeta i'll use it as an example. Before all you had to do was search "gender bender" and you could find it. Now you just have to browse because it's not tagged as neither genderswap nor crossdressing because it fits neither. Congratulations! Now you made it harder to search for. "We will make a special tag for it, all problems are now solved!!!!" works...until you realize that, like it, there are plenty of not-mainstream works without a relevant tag. It's almost as if gender-bender was an umbrella term to search all manga with that description! There are other more like this one too...
- You end with deceiving results. Let's see the themes. "Cooking", what a nice theme huh? Let's see which works appear. Hakumei to mikochi? There is very little cooking on this one, many "arcs" are not even related to cooking. Silver spoon? That agricultural manga with close to zero cooking is now about cooking? Dragon ball?! LOL. "But they had cooking in 1 chapter so it counts!" seems to be the criteria used here. Using that logic, almost all manga should be given the "fashion" theme since at one point a character wears fashionable clothes. The idea alone is silly.
This is a classic example of something that sounds good and like an improvement in theory but awful in the practice.
Now the search tool is harder to use.
Sadly, i don't expect people in charge to listen.

@Kurisu why would Gender Bender " Genderbender, which always ticked me off" it's where Transgender Anime and Manga have always been, and is the best search term used to find stuff that relates to people like me.
I'm a Transgender Woman, and I love Gender Bender. If it wasn't for that term and search, I would have never even known there was anime and Manga with characters I could relate to. I most likely wouldn't have become an "Otaku" and would have lamented the poorly done western Transgender stereotypes and characters.

I should probably state that I'm also transwoman myself. I have to say that "genderbend" manga that also happened to tackle themes on gender helped me sort out feelings about my gender identity years ago. Hourou Musuko/Wandering Son had been classified as genderbender years ago. I wouldn't have been made aware of it and others like it without the genre tagging of genderbend. Years later Bokura no Hentai was another great read that tackles trans topics and I found it through searching the genderbend genre.
Genderbend I feel is an umbrella genre like action, comedy, romance and other things that have many facets to them. Trans is also an umbrella term nowadays and has different things to it as well.
By refusing to categorize manga with trans themes into anything at all is a bit hard to swallow. And as @PatchouliKnowledge has stated it turns into a mess trying to find new content at all for certain genres if you are looking for something different.
I know that @kurisu feels that genderbend is wrong for some manga but as a someone who is trans and grew up looking for trans media like that was readily accessible by searching the genderbend genre in manga readers I feel breaking apart the genre isn't right. As I said before keep works as they were in a genderbend genre before the changes this month but if mods really want to implement theme tags like crossdressing, genderswap, or transgender then put them as part of the genderbend genre.
By breaking apart and erasing categorization of certain manga it also reduces the accessibility for those that are looking for manga with themes and genres they can relate to like with trans people and genderbend manga.

@DANDAN_THE_DANDAN, why broadcast, why get Transgender people involved when it directly affects them, even if they themselves are unaware. Because this kind of action does directly affect transgender people finding transgender content. I would be fine if "Gender Bender" was renamed "Gender Theme" and Futa wasn't included. Since Gender Themes include Transgender, Crossdressing, Genderswaps, intersexual, and several other types of LGBT themes, which is specific to the trans community. Ranma 1/2 being the Anime, then Manga that hooked me, as I related to Ranma and his Gender Identity issues.

@Nimroth The dozen or so stories that didn't fit into either tag will just remain uncategorized. They had either transgender characters or intersex characters, they can be found easier through MangaUpdates

That is your opinion. Statistics don't work with a sample size of one, buddy. You argue that "no tags=attacking trans" but you have not brought up any evidence.
