[Who says Summoning Japan's final boss is the WW2-level nation Gra Valkas Empire? GVE is just an appetizer. If Japan didn't have that logistic nightmare that is Nahanath, maybe the whole of the main fleet of the GVE Great Fleet already sunk and Grade Atlastar was not captured. The threat of the Annonrial Empire (another magic-based civilization) starts to loom in the shadows (and based on the WN and LN, they might have early Cold War-level of civilization and military technology) and the author always reminds the readers that Japan's real enemy is the Ravernal Empire by showing some of its bio-weapons wreck havoc among the populace and the Holy Mirishial Empire uses (although improperly utilizes its technology) its advanced magic-based technology/spoiler]

Okada and Amagi are talking about Grade Atlastar at Japanese Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Agency. They heard that every inch of Grade Atlastar's structure are the exact same as Yamato.
Okada already concerns that JMSDF personnel is insufficient to crew Grade Atlastar should it was remodeled to withstand modern warfare and put on services, not to mention the budget was still not enough as well.
Amagi argues that Grade Atlastar was necessary to compensate JMSDF lack of Naval Fleet Battle strength should they are being drawn into direct actions and Japan Diet already prepare a special budget for it, along with two additional escort ship.
The General summary from their perspective:
Government got an abundant budget.
Expected there will be a shortage of JSDF personnel while it's better to mass-produce escort vessel in terms of cost.
Since firepower was insufficient and manpower was scarce from JSDF, Grade Atlastar was necessary to compensate it.
No nuclear weapons at the present and it can't be made easily.
There are still lots of uncertain at the New World and many countries has yet to open a diplomatic relationship with Japan.

Gra Valkas 1st Battlegroup (440 ships with 1st group of 230 and 2nd group of 210 ships) annihilated.

Siegs currently ordered Dodecateon, Gales, and Beldienche to continue to mass-produce weapons include Callus Line to rebuild the main fleet.
Gralux didn't interested in adding manpower, and while Sand Pastal was silent, Siegs state that the reports from the front were now verified that it was true. With the fleet suffered catastrophic damage and deal no damage to Japan, it makes the Secretary of the Emperor (Kurtz) barks loud.
When Pastal decides to go on defense, the room was filled with rage as they are protesting against it.
Siegs devise a plan to deploy a large number of sea mines to wither the possibility of Japan using submarines to infiltrate its special operations personnel to Leifor. They also expect that Leifor will be targeted.

For me, Japan in this manga currently on assessment and intel gathering process,,, for making grand plan Annexation, Colonization or Puppetry by Soft way or Hard way
imo, that'll make this kind of manga interesting and long lasting tho more complex
unless ofc author and agency have other agenda, like romanticize JSDF to reader.

Quickly gleaned over 4 chapters and I could not spot any main character in the story.. Dropped

Honestly despite its problems I preferred this over GATE any day. This Managa recognises that the Japanese sdf can’t fight overseas and needs a work around. It doesn’t have a main character who is a lazy otaku who doesnt give a shit but is also Sam fisher combined with Solid Snake levels of skill. And no massive harem of token fantasy girls who have next to no personality are only there for eye candy
