Did he seriously break his promise and just run away like that? It would be one thing to renegotiate stating that while he promised to do her a favour, that specific order does not count as it is worth more than a favour to him. Or whatever drivel he wants to use to keep his promise but still pull that off the table (like, maybe "a favour, but not that favour"). But no, he actually simply ran off before fulfilling his side of a contract, with no indication of an intention to keep his word (in some shape or form) in the future.
