To be fair, it feels more natural and grounded for the cast to screw up their communication here than most other manga due to the fact that they're kids; they overthink, they get embarrassed too easily, they hold onto their egos too tightly. I think we can all relate with their actions back when we were kids.

i think even as adults, we are pretty wracked with miscommunication, ever so sure that we can leave proper communication for another day, a better day, a more suitable day, while such a day would always be tomorrow, a tomorrow that will never be today

Actually, yes. They are going to highschool, so they will inevitable form new friend circle with them and so the old ones would gradually be phased out saved for 1-2 extremely closed friends. Same with going to university after graduating. This thing are normal anywhere you know?

I thought something similar to the TL when I read Hibiki's response to Noro, her explanation about her upbringing immediately came to mind. Also, I feel like we're often lectured in media (Japanese as well as western) that we shouldn't choose schools or location based on romantic interest. I mean, it's one thing if you have a very specific future in mind and following your romantic interest would mean giving up on that. But I honestly don't think this is super common. Most of the kids I went to school with had no idea what to do even as they graduated high school, and what they went for after that was more or less whim. And if that's the case, what difference does it even make if you go for some generic option close to where your SO is? You can figure out what you wanna do there. Japan's always like, AS A 13-YEAR OLD YOU MUST DECIDE YOUR ENTIRE FUTURE RIGHT NOW. And if you don't have a huge-ass dream and pursue it relentlessly sacrificing everything else in the process, you're irresponsible. I ain't saying the job market is super forgiving or anything, but it's just unreasonable to expect kids to be capable of foreseeing what their ideal path is. Even if you do have a huge dream (professionally), there's absolutely no guarantee there will even be any demand for it by the time you graduate and enter the workforce, so you may very well have to give up at that point after all, even if you check all the boxes and score the best grades in the country. Given that it's all so random anyway for most people, just let people do what they want.

Shit happens with adults too, even if everything clicked fine for years, some misunderstanding there and everything can go haywire leaving with even a terrible conclusion and one person wondering what the hell went wrong...

Also, TL note is spot on, Hibiki is a victim of terrible household, it may be fine for some but for a kid, that's a route straight to professional mental help.
Sure she is easy in making contact (it may go opposite for some) but on the other hand know she won't stay for long.
It's good that Komori protected her meat back then, since she would have no problem doing the same thing to Hiragi as Noro, he just happen to also being interested anyway, at least he got over it quickly it seems and hey, congrats in 2nd or 3rd base...
