he was an absolute moron from the start, that's for sure, but I'm wondering if he was a vindictive cunt back then too or if the prophecy thing lead him to spiral into obsession to a point where he's very different now than before they wrote the book (which as far as I know is a good while before the beginning of the series).
also seems like the banshee has enough of a choice in writing the prophecy to make all the changes she wants without a solid fate guiding her hand.

@SGR Why the heck would the king empower a family like this? I doubt the king is planning to set up anything against a (so far unmentioned) third party that is a political threat, for example. The only rationale I can think of is that the king is planning to consolidate power in the next generation by getting Yulia to join the family (in which case the king would also have to hope the crown prince is more than assertive enough that Yulia, with her bold personality, will be a relatively powerless queen.

Either that, or the king is having severe financial problems to the point he needs new supportive factions to deal with it?

which isnt nice and turns him into an object but it isnt necessaryly intentional
however turning against the mc for not fulfilling her role and trying to actively rectify the story is intentionally turning everyone else beside her into objects
