The story is good although nothing groundbreaking. It has he usual "just be yourself" message which teens will enjoy (and adults can mince over as they remember simpler days... oh the tragedy). Yukata is the narrator and the main focus of the story as he becomes more open in this relaxed environment. By contrast Tsumiki is the dominant character. She is confident and charismatic. I would prefer for her to show some more weakness though such as familial pressure. The dynamic between her and Yukata makes him feel more like a pet project to her than a close part of her life.

The monsters satisfy monster girl fans such as myself. They also show much more easily the wide variety of people at this school. There are so many monsters that finding any one problem holding them back is easy. Much easier than if the school were all humans. For a story about being oneself these monsters do great.

Romance should not be expected. There are end shots every now and then but its evident any real romance will take 100+ chapters to develop. This is a slice of life story with romance as a side piece.

Lastly the score drop interests me. From what I have gathered the score was at a 9.2 until chapter 3, after which NTRfags bombed the score to 8.0. This is humorous since the chapter was quite clearly not developing a rival romance. Rather it was two monsters trying to support each other transitioning into human life. The current score is 8.57 and I hope it keeps going up although I personally don't think its great.

7/10.

The writer of the story straight up calls out the romance in the most recent chapter where they go to the movies. He has the main male character think that the romance is taking too long in the movie but that it's kind of normal for a romance stories. Which if that isn't a subtle call to it I don't know what is

I love these different takes on how social awkwardness can be. i see myself alot in the protag in how he internalizes feelings and thoughts so having a manga use that as a story building tool helps me recognize my own faults in my thinking

The art is so impressive... I'm not talking in general I'm talking for it's purpose as in this manga, 10/10.
Story isn't quite up there but it's kinda cute.
I like it !

This reminds me of the webcomic Eerie Cuties, but this manga is cute and wholesome and thankfully not remotely lewd.

I remember dropping this a while ago because of Ch.3 and forgot about it. Surprised that there's already 37 Chapters. Well, might as well reread it again.

Let's see if there are any other NTR Bait / Rage Bait plots in the future, because Ch.3 was done intentionally to provoke the reader into something or to make it controversial.

Then again, this could be another self-insert by the author cucking the MC situation, like Rent-a-Girlfriend.

When you're done virtue signalling with your flaccid steel, you could try just reading the series instead of making nonsense comparisons that have no relevance to...anything

I feel you're screaming into the wind there, friend. Those that stopped at chapter 3 either projected their own fears and insecurities or have a lack of a functioning brain. In either cases they should not roam the internet unsupervised.

For anyone that cares, I'll spell out what chap 3 was about and its use story wise and moving forward:
-The setting is a SOL romance between a socially akward people pleaser that is overly self concious and an outgoing free spirit that goes at her own pace and is otherwise unfazed by the judgement of others.
They have this classic appeal of personalities that compliment each other.
-We follow the POV of the introverted kid, as is often the case: more useful for narative purpose, since he ponders deeper in his thoughts, and being self concious his feelings are clearly conveyed to the reader.
-The first few chapters are used to introduce the setting and characters and their relationships, for example, the main "couple" are not childhood friends, they just got to know each other so we see the relationship devellop from point zero: strangers. Since we as the readers discover things at the same time as the main boy, other characters are needed to establish a mainline of how they interact with the world and do some basic worlbuilding/setting to flesh out the story and characters (family, friends, main personality traits, etc...)
-that's where chap 3 comes in: it establish the mainline of how Tsumiki interact with the world and people in general, not just our main POV guy: it shows how actions that would seem intimate to the MC (which at this point already caught feelings) are nothing special for her. The point is, roughtly, that she's nice to everyone, so don't misunderstand. And from there we're going to see the evolution of "I like everyone", to "MC is special amongst everyone". (very heavily summarised plotline).

So don't freak out, it's basic romance storytelling. Also, in most recent chapters FMC is getting some competition for MC's affection. While he is mostly oblivious, the purpose is to awaken possessive feelings in her, aka jealousy.
For the most part I feel that our boy lack any real competition, even. I don't know if he'll ever get some, too, since from the writing pattern it looks to me like it's going for a "Komi san" approach with a mostly fleshed out essemble cast, instead of zeroing in to the main couple (where rivals are more important to further the plot).

In future devellopements I'd like to see some drawbacks to Tsumiki's traits. For now she's portrayed as the outgoing one that stimulates the MC to come out of his shell, being the metaphorical shining beacon to light the way. But if he only receive and have nothing to contribute to her devellopement then the story'll be worse for it, and it would be a shame.

This concludes my ted talk for people who lack reading comprehension (and other interested parties). Thanks for listening.

I love these "non-human high school girls try to fit in" because of how original the author can potentially get in their handling of the monster girl's specific quirks.

Of course in some manga it is done poorly, but not in this one; here I really liked the artist one and the invisible one. Not saying more to avoid giving out spoilers.

Funny also how this manga has similarities with Chanto Suenai Kyuuketsuki-chan, as the MC is a weak-willed, frail yet generous boy who gets hooked with the popular bubbling quirky cute local monster girl.

Reader, do you feel similar to this kind of timid, overly anxious MC? If so, I hope these mangas will help you feel better.
As Lao Tseu was saying, "When you try really hard not to annoy anyone, it is the moment where you annoy everyone, so stop overthinking and dig holes in the backyard with the local werewolf cutie"
(He didn't really say that but he is dead so he ain't gonna complain)
