Let me say that I am not interested in an ending with Meguru. I know it is unavoidable that she'll fully reenter the spotlight eventually, but that's all I want it to be. Beyond that I am not sure what role she'll play--many places that could go. I'm eager to find out soon.
Why would she fall in love with Meguru? Okiku is the final love interest. She’s the MC along with Hijiri..
We are not gonna see any NTR..

She was already in love with Meguru when they were younger (or at least a crush). There were feelings back then and this chapter reinforces that at least from Meg's side. With Okiku being a ghost, I could see different potential routes this could take.

I doubt that would happen--she definitely loves Okiku now--but it's not unheard of. Not sure what NTR has to do with it. I'm interested in when she reconnects with Meguru, since we'll get a better idea of what the author is thinking then. There's clearly a reason for Meguru's character and we continue building up to meeting her again. I'd love to finally know what her role is.

Ok the one hand this chapter establishes beyond any doubt that Meguru and Ryou are fated to be together.
But it does the same thing for Ryou and Okiku, since how many ghosts make things disappear by counting them?
Okiku was there from the start too...
And does Okiku even remember saving Ryou and her (probable) reincarnation?
Ryou's love life is so tangled now are we sure Ryou isn't some kind of Jorogumo weaving a web of romance around everyone?

Not Okiku's evil alter ego stalking Ryou and saving her as a child... 💀 (the evil alter ego part is a joke, hopefully)
Also, fuck that early childhood friends thing, makes it all look like fate and make us feel the power of love won't make the 200 years (+/-) ghost suddenly gain a human body again :fml:.

if I think about related tropes I've seen in the past involving a ghost and an alive third party that are both love interests, it's gonna end up with the possession of Meguru by Okiku in a poly timeshare thing or that the Meguru is the partial reincarnation of Okiku and they merge together in the end.

Honestly there has to be a reason of all these look a likes. Ryou is some descendent of a human who once lived with Okiku. Okiku is one of the three great ghosts now, but why? And what happened to the Ryou ancestor?
Meguru seems to have been the first real friend. But they’ve always made a weird physical appearance connection between Meguru and Okiku. Meguru also had her present day appearance after readers were shown the school flashbacks. Also that’s insane, that Meguru used to fully see the ghosts, she counts just like Okiku, but now she can’t fully see ghosts as of school years? And why did Ryou forget Meguru? So these guys are all tangled. I wouldn’t really see any love route as NTR because there’s gotta be some sort of relation.

I don’t remember who Meguru is. And this may be the ravings of a madman. And I’m also hazy on some stuff but I’m pretty sure there’s another great ghost that has yet to be revealed? That being said, my running theory is that the hidden ghost is always shown one way or another. Either a tiny little Easter egg like usual, or her actual figure. Last chapter, as far as I know, there was no hidden face. But there was a panel of a memory of two shadowed figures. This chapter, once again as far as I can tell, the ghost is not hidden. But we do see Meguru, the only new person on top of a lack of hidden ghost. THEREFORE. Meguru is now prime sus

I'm more interested in finding out what Okiku meant when she said "I'll never forgive you" earlier in the series, and if it ties to Meguru in any way or if it's tied to Okiku's past love interest.
