Did Van shoot those shuriken bombs at the wyverns again? Was he certain that there weren't any civilians left in the area? Because that weapon is a huge shotgun blast and he fired it very long range, so he's pretty likely to hit friendlies if he's not careful.

Multiple weird points about this. Third prince claims the bomb is an equaliser and is dangerous in anyones hand when they rely on wyverns to drop the bombs from the sky. Wyverns that apparently require spesifically mages with puppeting magic to pilot.
There is also the issue of claiming they are a small nation when they are able to fuel this army of wyvern riders while the MC's nation has none and does not seem to even have any defense against them.

I think the story would have been better served if they only had a few wyverns that were portrayed as a rare and valuable unit.

Not like it matters, but I'm pretty sure the guy at p.8 is actually a Rizon. I mean, after a Unimog, there can be no doubt.

Yeah they have way too many wyverns and puppet users to really make sense. Unless this skill is only uncommon in Van's country because they keep killing people with it or people are hiding it.

Also the prince's killing of civilians is pretty stupid as that's the easiest way to push a country into pyrrhic strategies. Sure Van's dad couldn't one shot Scudetto but Scudetto is one of the most heavily fortified cities in the area. Most places do not have that level of defense. That means that as a last resort they could send Van's dad and several like him to just go to the Prince's country and vaporize towns and cities. Nothing they could do about it given they were previously a small and weak country that only matters now because another country is probably using them for a proxy war. No way a country with two dumbasses for princes could come up with bombs on their own.

The civilians were already clear of the fortress, the wyvern unit was stationed on the walls and getting ready to chase them down from behind right before the puppet show began.

I was about to criticize the exact same thing. Needing to breed a dangerous animal with a specific type of mage sort of undermines the generic uses that explosions would normally provide.

Not really, the whole reason the MC got exiled was because he didn't have combat magic. If combat magic is the standard for battles in that world, and production/puppet magic is viewed as obscene/taboo, then it makes sense that a nation that doesn't have the means to fight normally would invest in other non-magic weapons and recruit outcast magic users to combine it with.

If this was a revenge series the MC and Arte would be on that kingdom's side, helping to create new weapons and controlling multiple wyverns themselves.

Wyvern kill count: 17, not counting ones falling/attacked before hitting the ground in the next panel.
I'd have to assume they have at least a squadron of 24.

I counted 9 battle wagons in the last chapter and each one is pulled by 4 horses, totaling at least 36 cart horses and 4 war horses (escort knights).

Y'all complaining about the "small nation" statement by the prince, but that was a term of mockery. His response is essentially "big enough to raise bomb-dropping wyverns and take Scudetto."

really grateful for this pickup considering what's happening to Utoon and Reset.
is something bad happening to them?
their tls and everything about them was always absolute dogshit so never bothered to read them or keep up with them after they got rightfully banned from mangadex for being scum
would be good to know if they are finally dying off

Might have the mindset of "ends justify the means" and killing Civilians is clearly a terror tactics since this attack is a stepping ground to a full on INVASION of the Kingdom! Of course short sighted uncaring fools don't grasp the ADVANTAGE of "not targeting Civilians" for the more benefitual "terrorizing" (which ends up causing a waste of resources and long run invites more problems then it solves)

And I feel this may be the Manga artists fault with all those Wyverns then it is the story to be honest

In chapter 34 page 19 the King specifically indicates he has been trying to reform the nobles opinions on magic outside of the four elements. It hasn't been going very well but inside the royal palace they should have made progress on improving the other magics. Van's magic isn't considered obscene or taboo, it's considered useless because the mana reserves needed to produce things with it are obscene. I don't know if there's a way to improve magic capacity so it's unclear if they can raise up any other production user out of uselessness other than say factory line style works. Puppet magic is the only one that's been mentioned as taboo as far as I remember because you really gotta trust someone to not get suspicious of them when they can allegedly control people.
