Thank you for translating this! Even getting one chapter a month is a blessing when an old favorite comes by, so take the time you need!

That seems like a trashy event from the devs? You put all the effort in to repair it and it rampages and can even somehow steal items from you to grief.
This game had so many things that would be more than questionable in term of game design, this isnt surprising.
Story point of view its ok and good, point of view of it beeing a game it is dumb.

I mean when other players took CHILDREN players hostage the gamedevs didnt step in at all. Which could very easy be a traumatizing event with how immersive the game is. Then we look at many other things that happened at the events. Or the Fairy Yun got is also in the exact same category.

Real good thing that they tested this thing when all together. Hopefully they'll get something useful out of beating it like they did with the Zombie dragon. I imagine both cases will only yield the opportunity to recruit what you're interested in if you both beat it and get lucky with drops 🤔

Yeah, that's the thing with vr game stories. A lot of the ideas are cool within the confines of the story, but would be pretty trash in real life when you think about it. Another good example is the unique boss and scenario situation in Shangri La Frontier; it's super dope in the story, but man would it be kind of messed up to be perma locked out of major story content just because someone else got there first. Compared to that, this event actually kind of makes sense to me in that fighting the construct is part of the process, much like the Zombie Dragon, unless maybe they just missed a step in their haste, and it really only got so bad because Magi jumped the gun and made it quite battle ready 🤔

Tbf, I don't know if the devs would have planned on people outfitting the bot with the kind of equipment Magi makes. It would have been A LOT easier to beat without all the things Magi equipped it with. I imagine there's also probably some lore stuff they skipped in their enthusiasm for building the doll that would have prepared them better for this possibility, much like how they knew with the dragon bones that weren't any guarantees with what would spawn and that there'd be a fair chance it'd be hostile, they just underestimated the possibilities with this one 🤔

thanks for the new chapters ... also am I the only one shipping Yun and Magi?
It's a possibility, but not one I see as likely unless Yun meets up with Magi in real life at some point. For now they're just really good friends and I settle for that personally. If we are to get something more romantic, it seems like Yun's two real life friends are the more likely options, though I'm pretty sure Taku's stuff is only for the gag of Yun being in a feminine form in the game and Emily/Endo is where things would go unless something changes in Yun and Magi's dynamic 🤔

I don't think they were supposed to fight the dragon, or this construct, there's probably some step they overlooked in each one, but fighting it and taking it down before it self-destructs still gets you something for the effort. These are crafting events, so I imagine you can redo them if you really want to farm for materials from these optional enemies, it would suck if these were just story quests, and it was just locked after you screwed up.

^^...

These event seems over the limit what it should be, better to straight reject them since the start than no warning party wipe...

This is what happens when you mess around with a robot that is not Three Laws Safe. For as bullshit as this fight was, it wasn't as bullshit as the boss fights from Destiny Unchain Online.

thanks for the translation. funny how two recent arcs have been the group building something in hopes of it being an ally only for it to turn against them and them having to destroy it. I wonder what sort of item they'll get out of it this time.

if you talk about things that could be traumatizing, there's a lot to talk about, the giant insects, zombie hordes, deform monster (pet event/dragon resurrect), ghosts, etc. So I think at least players should know what they're signing up for, and there are actually measures mentioned for underage players, such as intoxicate stat if underage players consume alcohol, so I think if player actually taking children hostage often, there would be countermeasures later; in this case, the player themselves have come up with countermeasures so the dev doesn't need to step in.
talking about countermeasures, there's a lot of cunning ideas like market price manipulation, sabotage, pk, mob-pk, even if there are people like this, they're so few that I doubt dev would do anything immediately, and they also support the righteous side like sudden mob invasion during crafter guild opening.
maybe you're talking about a system like in mmo junkie or late tamer? if oso want to implement that system, they would have to do it from the beginning, or when there's a major scandal that forces them to implement that system, for now I doubt dev would implement that system anytime soon

Yeah, that's the thing with vr game stories. A lot of the ideas are cool within the confines of the story, but would be pretty trash in real life when you think about it. shala is a world different from oso, oso focuses on the slice-of-life aspect of the player while shala is more of the vr power fantasy, in oso player could even resurrect mob, recover the old civilization, which is already part of the player's reachable scope, as long as they lvl up their senses and have enough items, anyone could perform it, and no unique or special item/sense requires an unorthodox play style or something only some players could have in oso.

that's correct. Reading carefully, you will notice that magi customize dolls' outer shells, like implementing a spring on its toes or fusing mithril that gains magic resist to equipment, which results in the very powerful doll lmao

I don't think they were supposed to fight the dragon, or this construct, there's probably some step they overlooked in each one, but fighting it and taking it down before it self-destructs still gets you something for the effort. it's right and wrong; the right is they could avoid the fight with dragon if they know the exactly method of mob revival, and the wrong is they are supposed to make mistakes, in this series you could see that yun and crafter go throught a lot of failure and retry, yun would need to brew a lot of potion to fine-tune the recipe to find the right recipe, aside, this one is not an event, it's just the doll going on rampage, not everything is this game considered event, like dragon revival and clockwork magic doll

So I think at least players should know what they're signing up for,
there is a difference to having stuff censored in their field of view, some monsters because video games etc
and then have them restrained, unable to move and threaten them ... that is a VERY different situation and feeling for the ones in it, the only silver lining was them beeing made to sleep (and I hope it was done before them knowing what happened, but how the whole capturing process was described and shown, it didnt look that way at all)

Thats why it was too far and the reason devs/gms should have stepped in IMMEDIATLY.
Also there is a Difference between teenagers like Yun and his Sister and the ACTUAL KIDS who were with the tamer girl.
It doesnt need to have a game or system mechanic against it, just a GM saying ... such small kids is a big no no, everyone else thats your case as long you dont go overboard.

I think you forgot something. This is a VR game, so they have to FIGHT a monster, and normally they would OFTEN K-LLED BY MONSTER.

and I mean...
some monsters will DEVOUR THEM ALIVE.
some monsters will TEAR THEM TO PIECES.
some monsters will STAB THEM TO DEATH.
some monsters will BURN THEM TO DEATH.
some monsters will STRIKE THEM WITH LIGHTNING.
some monsters will DISOLVE THEM WITH ACID.

which is why I said at least every player should know what they're signing up for; I'm not saying that being threatened is a fine thing, but they should expect that if they couldn't deal with humans, then how could they handle a monster many times scarier than humans? Let's look at Myu, she's in 3rd-year middle school, which should be just 1-2 years older than Al and Rai, yet she's ready to face the PK head-on.

conclusion: I doubt they would be traumatized by being held hostage or threatened, and no children are being threatened anymore. In the first place, there are only a limited number of players who could afford and fast enough to buy the VR devices, so I don't think there are many children to begin with

and in the first place, at least from the vrmmo genre I have read, normally there are only teens-to-adults in the game, so it's hard to find any reference; the only vrmmo I think of that involve children aspect is mmo junkie, in that game during beta, children below 15 were abused by adults, so the game implements the function that player can't initiate pk to player under 15, of course they could fight if children request duel or initiate the attack, aside from that, I can't remember any other vrmmo novels/mangas that has similar scenario, so if you have any, please recommand it to me, I'm always looking for novel/manga to read
