@degenerateafro I am always a bit annoyed when stories playing in mmos have stupid game design, I know why they do it (to raise tension by creating danger to players with high failure penalties for instance for death, to give the MC some special ability not everyone has, because the author has no clue how games work nor can be bothered to research it, to make an MC clever by being the only one to figure out how to exploit (or maybe counter) something that countless people would have figured out in a real game, etc.) but the egregious cases always make me think "wow this would be a bad game" and detract from the story.

How tf does an attack being partially resisted affect a OHKO move? Imagine if in pokemon you used fissure on a grass type and it only did half of their health?

@warpdrive does balance not mean anything to you? You're probably not a gamer if you think it's ok to have OP instakill move without a way to counter. In reality, games usually balance or nerf them. Even in pokemon you can use substitute or protect or whatever to block fissure and sheer cold.

I think some people are missing that they're making a distinction between "PKing because it's fun to play as a belligerent battle junkie" and "PKing specifically to grief and harrass other people." In that respect at least it's slightly more nuanced than the typical "PK bad" common in MMO LNs.
