If this was a story where Humans and Demons were not in conflict from the jump your idea would have probably worked however.
How much of that conflict was caused by that decision? And how much of that conflict encouraged the use of holy magic, given that both demons and monsters are weak to it?

I gotta admit. this is so diverged from the WN that I've come around and I'm interested in how this is going to turn out now.
It sorta diverged from the WN because if you know how the last 2 arcs go in the WN, this route is implied to be one the many time loops the mc had to go through in the final arc, but who knows if the manga still going to do the time travel and looping stuff the WN did, which honestly didn't like that much, because so much character development didn't really matter, once the looping stuff was revealed at the end of the 5th arc

Do you believe if the Demon Lord had come to the Humans and said "Don't use the magic that protects you from monsters, because you are feeding a civilization consuming Fairy Dragon" that they'd have listened in any capacity?
Well... they might now. :D

Lazy timeloop deus ex machina shitpost at play again.

This arc is literally the first time the story has veered away from being "generic self insert isekai trope-spam" slop. Oh nooo, ruby is a shithead! That's the point. She's awful, but more of an interesting character than generic herbivore nice-guy with no personality and bullshit OP videogame mechanics.

This is an improvement. Almost worse than being bad is being BORING, and the previous MC and cast was so generic that nothing stood out at all.

EVERY SINGLE fantasy that spams dragon quest mechanics and "the demon lord and hero" is fucking SLOP, it's lazy, no effort garbage. So the setting is trash, the characters were trash, time loop bullshit is overdone, played out trash, and following the antagonist is the first thing redeeming this whole manga. It's not a redemption arc for Ruby, it's a redemption arc for the writer himself. Fight me.

I think that's the point. She's realizing that how much damage she causes with her selfish nature. She grew up thinking no one would ever help or save her and she had to fight reach where she is. She developed a terrible personality and started taking out her attitude on Lloyd.

Everyone calls her unredeemable and horrible, but based on the flashbacks to their childhood Lloyd would probably be dead in a back alley if Ruby had not dragged him along. I personally find following her story now a bit more interesting than watching OP Lloyd one hit everything.
So the alternative is him dying in some back alley, or him later in life being extorted and mentally crippled, while having to fight for survival against some nonsensical monster, while she enjoys her fame and chills at home

Yeah she's infinitely more interesting to follow than Lloyd. He's a generic wholesome boy who everyone loves while Ruby is an asshole whose being forced to reap what she sewed. Lloyds story is pretty much done now he's escaped from Ruby and grown independent of her, going back to him would be a massive snooze fest.

I mean, the fairy dragon did kinda get them good though, snatched 'em up in one gulp.
Lets just see how their revenge festers shall we?

After the fairy dragon, the enemy will be the anti-spiral. As the alchemist Ruby is, she is going to make an extremely huge ass drill that will pierce the heavens!

look at comments

And as usual we have some weebs acting like a child is somehow a horrible monster that deserves to die, makes me wonder how much of that mentality is basically projection cause someone was mean to them :v

I'm feeling very vindicated about my observations on Lloyd and Ruby back in May.
