This series wasn't "axed", which implies that publishers decided not to continue publishing a work. This work originally was a 26 chapter novel that was then republished as a short light novel by Kodensha in 2021 which turned into a short manga adaptation.

Honestly if this got turned into a Live Action movie I'd watch it. I'm also looking forward to whatever the artist does next.

This crappy chapter tries to reduce the whole story until now to a simple "do over" gimmick with no practical consequence to our MCs' future relationship. This story had a lot going for it and deserved better.

Alas, the author has bailed on titles in just this way before (no axe). Maybe I'll think twice before picking up their next one.
