The issue they aren't talking about yet here was the one that wrecked the marriage. Her sister tried to rape the guy. She refused to believe him for an insanely long time. He understandably became hurt and outraged about her lack of support. He began looking at her worries about the damage his work was doing to his health through that lens, exacerbating the damage done already to the relationship's core of trust and intimacy. Her funneling her concerns through thoughtless nagging just sped up the crash.

And I like that he solved the problem by acting like a mature adult about it, because… that’s the entire premise, isn’t it.

It perfectly explains her odd perfect girl act at the beginning. Her guilt about failing her husband like that must've been absolutely soul crushing. Now with the miraculous second chance she really wanted to be the perfect wife this time around.

It also explains why even though he pissed her off and was in the wrong this time starting the bickering she still called him first and wanted to make up. While also making sure he knows she is still available.

Id argue it makes for a more interesting and realistic premise. How else can you write two characters that are quite clearly still deeply in love and work so well together yet have such a massive wedge that they'll bicker and even divorce? Kinda needs an "extreme" twist to make the story believable and give it a compelling conflict to resolve. Cause as it is now they just look like they divorced for completely stupid reasons that theyre regretting now.

Mind you, shit like this happens in real life and it often ends far far worse...

I tried reading a fan translation but it was terrible, the guy responsible didn't even seem to know english, so unless you find another or know japanese, I would go in with low expectations.
