This "too friendly" side character cliche in stories that have no real place in the story is ridiculous. Think about it, remove him from the story and it is better or doesn't dip in quality, because then the author is forced to create real social interactions/write interesting subplots between characters to solve issues. He creates a plan for the "greater good" of the MC DESPITE being told EXPLICITLY to keep it a secret (People like this are the worst in real life. DO NOT DO THINGS THAT YOU THINK WILL BENEFIT YOUR FRIEND IF YOU ARE TOLD EXPLICITLY NOT TO DO IT, JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU KNOW BETTER - YOU DON'T). His camaraderie with MC makes no sense either - the MC does everything to keep his image in place but chooses to allow this guy to linger around him.
Otherwise, okay read.
