I wonder if Colette had idolised Harold in her mind, over the years. Her only personal experience with him was the brief moment when he saved her and Clara's lives. It's possible his rude behavior hadn't left much of a lasting impression, compared to things like receiving the necklace. Clara would know more, having served in the mansion, but at the end of the day, Harold saved her life and went out of his way to arrange a new life for them, so I doubt she spent time telling horror stories to her daughter. So, if she had indeed formed a very positive image of Harold, it's no wonder if his attitude now made her cry.

Another interesting dynamic I paid attention to now, after the 4th (or 5th) reading is how Harold is actually pretty solid friends with Itsuki. He has no problems hanging around with him and isn't even talking super rudely to him anymore, compared to the beginning. Itsuki himself really is treating Harold like a (younger) brother in law already. Demonstrated best by how he immediately stepped between Cody and Harold when Cody suspiciously approached with his recruitment speech. Compare this to how Harold and Erica don't get along, and it's like the difference between Heaven and Hell. Of course Erica actually would love to get along, but it's impossible as long as Harold maintains his plan and stance to try to make Erica hate him. Since Erica honours that agreement, her only choice is to appear seemingly cold toward him. Sad state of affairs.

At 13 they would be kind of young to do much as a couple, anyway, but it would still be a funny couple, like I said earlier in one comment or another.
