In Oakeri, Papa, the MC is unaware of the noose getting tighter and only gets occasional glimpses of what is happening.

This one is more of a thriller while Okaeri Papa hits psychological horror.

Put another way, our guy here is a mouse toyed by a cat, the guy in Okaeri Papa doesn't know he's already dead.

Yeah it feels like MC is lacking something not sure what it is. Yeah the papa show was genuinely creepy it had its moments of levity, but also getting even and the creep factor
