the new girl says she has some other guy she likes that she hasn't seen in a while. the best friend is still a bro - he still advises mc on what to do with mc girl and he introduces her to him. mc finally admits to coworker (i.e. mc girl) and new girl that he is in love with mc girl. this naturally makes coworker girl extremely excited. mc reveals to best friend that he talks a lot about his crush with coworker and new girl and best friend wants to also chime in with them. it's revealed that best friend knows boss guy (new girls' dad) and seem pretty close, the implication possibly being... anyway best friend ends up meeting mc (as waiter) and coworker girl as they talk about what to do next, unclear if best friend realizes who coworker girl actually is.

She seems like a nice lass. I take back what I said about her being a complication character, even though she'll probably end up liking the non glasses MC because she doesn't realize the FMC is talking about the same person.

I think it'll be a chapter where she falls, but then she puts two and two together before she falls hard and ends up stringing the two of them along into better situations. Maybe a mini arc of 2 or 3 chapters and then she's the one who talks about the fmc's past to the mc cause it might cause a weird situation resulting in a distance between them. Then she ends up in the liaison position for the both of them, functionally the audience insert of being annoyed at the "why don't they just say it to each other" crowd.

Given all her troubles with guys one-sidedly falling for her, in the moment i can totally see how it might have seemed the kindest and most reassuring thing to do. That he immediately had an "oh, shit" moment over it shows he's not such a dumbass, just a guy who made a mistake that he wants to fix ASAP.
