I'm so glad I didn't find this manga until today. I don't think I could have dealt with all of the multi-level betrayals and suspense for 3 months, and I would probably have dropped it if I were only able to read through the first 6 chapters.
Honestly, this is a hidden gem of a story that only really pays off after the first two volumes. After reading it once, I went back and read it a second time just so I could see all of the foreshadowing the author provided regarding the characters' true feelings and inner thoughts. I've always wanted to read a story that overturns the tropes of the innocent beta-male harem protagonist MC and his frictionless friendship with the sports star and gives the characters more realistic, selfish personalities, and except for the naivety of the MC and oversimplified personalities of the initial two main girls, this story delivered.
I'm glad the author had the ability to play the first story arc out until its conclusion over the course of two volumes. If I weren't so interested in seeing what happens next with the main couple, I would say that Chapter 12.5 is the perfect place to end the story before it starts going downhill.
