I have to wonder how people come to these conclusions in their mind when the male MC is as plain as day for us to see. There is literally nothing misogynistic about him. In an earlier chapter, he already showed how if you are on the lower end of the looks spectrum, you would get shamed for it, especially by the women who would think it would be gross and an insult to be asked out by people like him (it was a classmate in his flashback, but he knows hes in the same group). So if anything, our MCs flashbacks have shown that if theres anybody who belittles the other that has been demonstrated, its the females against the males. Depending on look/status/social standing of course.

They think to themselves "Is that person out of my league? If so I wont waste either of our times" Its acknowledging that some people are just superior and inferior to others in certain aspects of life. Theres nothing wrong with trying to find a match to your level, or at least try to find the best you can get. Everybody does it. Why wouldnt they? Theres nothing wrong about this. In that comment I made I meant the schoolboy classmate with the bowlcut, who clearly isnt meant to look good, which the girl called gross. If he was some hot hunk but had the same personality that clearly wouldnt have been the reaction from the girl. Its absolutely 100% about the looks from that boys perspective.

Though I agree with you our male MC is definitely nothing on the level. He actually looks kinda nice face wise. And not to mention apparently hes not super slender but actually some degree of muscle. So if anything the guy is.....better than most people with his type of personality.

But also, we dont even know what his personality was like in school that much honestly. I assume it's just rampant pseudo-intellectualism. the urge to contribute something big to the discussion, faced with a constant POV level moment to moment read on his mind, along with a neutral narrator on his whole life story, they can only parrot "therapy" and "actually his entire world view is something else".

Theres nothing left to speculate here, we are given his entire mind, thoughts and history. the refusal to accept it - in favour of making it fit your own idealogy - is pathetic. Yeah, I think that's the point in this manga - his perspective is severely broken. It's the same reason he's having a meltdown during sex.

Every interaction the reader sees him having with girls is incredibly socially awkward:
Never talks to Yumi except to run with the teasing about seeing her breasts (and the narration indicates that he was kinda serious), handful of texts to the plain girl he never interacts with before or after (in real life, the guy has usually at least been introduced to the girl first), quits the extroverted light music club b/c he can't handle it.
