I don’t understand why a bunch of people are dropping this. Something can be dark and twisted, and someone can be really suffering. These are all plot points in the story, and I’m not defending them. I’m just saying that just because something is wrong, or makes you feel uncomfortable, doesn’t mean that the story is trying to push some twisted agenda on you. This story is one built on a lot of trauma already, and now someone who suffered and made others suffer is going through their own horrific experiences. In fact, I think it brings a lot of awareness to the situations that people in today’s society can be in, and that there is much more than meets the eye.

of course, this doesn’t apply if it’s just the author pushing a weird fetish or beliefs, or trying to sell that to you.

But in the case of this story it certainly isn’t, rather it’s an author using trauma and suffering to build a complicated plot line.

I posted this on the chapter that the turn happened, but I could be wrong and seeing it from a bad perspective. please reply to this and let me know if I am (I want to see and understand other perspectives as much as possible due to the extent of the hate)

It's because that plot is actually common for hentai prostitution,rape, blackmail and such that actually only happened in hentai... But this is manga. It supposed not to write that up that way

Do you also think murder mysteries are written by serial killers or people who think murder is a good thing? Just because she wrote a dark story arc doesn't mean she wants to do anything dark in real life, or that she thinks such material is justifiable under any circumstances. It's just what she came up with as something big and extreme enough to put a close to her story. Even with this there will be people complaining that she's "let off the hook" and such things. It wasn't the best path, to be sure, but it certainly does its job of showing the depths of her remorse as she even sees this as just desserts. Though it can be a sign of loss of creativity, as it is a very basic and common way to create drama. The author of SAO, for example, personally admitted after enough time had passed that he'd grown prone to this sort of thing, demonstrating how evil a villain is by having him try to rape someone or throwing in some extra drama with sex-based trauma. It takes a lot of work to make it compelling, and even more to make it work within the story. The author came closer than some have, but she's not there.

No I totally get it why people drop this manga, and for good reason.
For one, the manga had a pretty family friendly setting, nothing was overly fucked up even through the initial abuse the MC suffered.
The MC is not stupid, does not fall for any traps, everyone is always open to dialogue and to solve things talking without acting. They are overly mature and everything gets resolved quite easily and fast, the lessons are learned almost immediately which, for teenagers this is a literal impossibility lol
Then comes the extortion of Hanabi. I feel like the author tried too hard to have someone get some leverage on Hanabi to keep her on a leash and pay back the bullying she caused, but a video in which he's just... crying and mocking him? Can't even remember if it was because he wets his pants as a child, but THAT's his blackmail material???? THAT is why she agrees to prostitute herself for??? It's fucking ridiculous!! It's too much of a stretch!! It feels like trying too hard to add edge to a manga that never had any and has been quite wholesome for quite a while for no particular reason, and as a very badly implemented ploy to force us to feel pity for Hanabi when she deserved none. What's so bad about making someone irredeemable? And why put her through all that if she was not planned to be irredeemable, then?
I wouldn't be surprised if this shit gets axed. The author fumbled really badly on this.

O mangá está indo por um caminho interessante com consequências dos atos de cada personagem, é pesado ler e não sentir as coisas estando no seu devido lugar, mas é assim que uma novela é: tensão e resolução dos problemas para aí aparecer mais problemas até o fim da história, eu estou gostando do tom mais dark da história pois é sobre isso que a história se tratava desde o início: traumas e manipulação. Agora a chantagem do vídeo de Souma se mijando e a ex-namorada dele se sentir culpada por isso e se prostituir foi forçado demais! Mesmo assim sigo lendo o mangá.

Warning: Don't touch this stupid manga, the massive tonal shift after the first few major arc is stupid you would think you are reading a different story.

It started pretty wholesome with pretty much soft vibe then suddenly halfway to the story, you get dropped with unnecessary edgy dark stuff like pr0stituti0n and r@pe that the same reason the original source material which is the novel got axed in that same arc/volume yet the manga adaptation is still continuing to that direction for some reason, and issue is that the one being getting that shit is one of the main characters.
