I feel like you, unfortunately for opposite reasons. Hinaki could have come out with her long hair and short top, done any number or cute/fluffy stuff to the boy and he'd be a goner for her. NO! She's gonna act the exact way she got to the situation that bothers herself and the boy! And she's the one girl who's at least doing something

Well, Hinaki is not in love with the boy, at least she probably do not realize it yet. Did you forget her reason? She knew her closest and dearest friend will become "strange", awkward and distant the moment he found his love. This is a common thing between girl and boy friends when someone finds some love interest. Hinaki is too attached to the boy and can't just leave him be. Moreover she knew (at that time) than the other girl will reject him and he'll be hurt, and it's not something you can help with as a friend, like in this chapter.

Very good point. I'll say she could and would help him by hearing him out, but I get that she doesn't even want to hear about it. By the way, even Hiroka's previous attitude is explained, I'm keen to know why Hinaki has this extreme aversion to the idea of romance...

Didn't she say early on it caused distance between her and her female friends in middle school?
I think her problem is that she has this idealized view of what love is. Like it's some personality and rationality ruining emotion, and because of that she doesn't realize that what she feels towards Shunsuke is love. Even if it's not romantic love right now it's still a form of love.

I don't think she was worried that he was going to be rejected, but that he was going to leave her side if he started dating.
