I was baffled by the "We came up with the name based on some Japanese wordplay" as it didn't seem like an actual explanation and no TL note was around, so I checked the raw. It's literally unexplainable.
Raw was 「おさ"なな"じみが４人だから"なななな"」 (osa"nana"jimigayonindakara"nananana")
In English, it's basically "4 childhood friends, hence 'nananana'."
Afaik, the "nana" in osananajimi (childhood friends) does not particularly denote "a pair" or "two" in any way, so there is no good way to translate the explanation.
It would be the equivalent of saying something like BFFs is a pair of friends so 4 would be BFFFFs...

Also, for anyone curious about "Zuu", the raw has it as ズー (literally "Zuu") with no chan/kun, so we have no hint on their gender. Could be a dude or a tomboy based on what we can see from the photo.

Don’t know how to feel about the new childhood friends. On one hand she isn’t annoying and doesn’t seem like a love interest but on the other hand…

Its kinda feels like author is going to user her as a mouthpiece too move the two together which I feel ruins the beauty of them slowly reconnecting and discovering feelings for each other.

In addition MC and FMC feel like they have a much less personal relationship with their introduction.

Ultimately, most of my concerns are merely my own preference by I am very conflicted on adding two more new main childhood friend characters this early when FMC and MC are just barely reconnecting.

TLDR: I feel like the story’s moving a bit fast.
