I'm gonna add something to this, she also says "children just want to know their parents are healthy" and show a picture of her family going oh don't drink too much, so and so in good spirits, juxtaposed with Sarina, a child in her death bed, ghosted by her fucking parents, writing as her new years wish for her parents to be healthy when they dropped her in a hotel in the middle of nowhere to die without being a nuisance to them. Oh she's a pos alright, I hope she gets her just deserts and they don't show her to secretly be a good person or some anti vengeance bs

Imagine taking care of someone who you know was about to die, doing everything you can to get in contact with her parents to hopefully at least let them have a moment with each other before she passes, but fail because the mom was busy. This mother never, even once came to visit her dying daughter, up until her last moments. Then you find out this mother figure was enjoying her life elsewhere, seemingly without a care in the world, as if completely forgetting about her daughter. No memento, nothing. “As long as the kids are healthy.”

She abandoned Sarina. Aqua was taking care of her for a long time. He has the right to be pissed. I know I’d be too.

I get you. Sometimes I forget to put myself in the character shoes. To Sensei (Aqua's previous life) this woman might feel like the peak of hypocrisy. It just that the photo seemed very innocent to me, but as you said that innocent photo might've felt very unfair to Aqua. Thanks for the insight.

As for the mother, I feel that there's more to her. The fact that she heavily drinks (even on the celebration photo she has a bottle and there's a reference to her drinking) is in order to cope with the guilt of having failed Sarina.

I really like her inclusion. I just can't predict where the plot will go. With Ruby "needing" to feel the abandonment of a parent for her role, while at the same time really needing the exact opposite, for her real life. I wonder to which path her encounter with her previous mom will lead her.

Can’t believe I’d live so see the day where weebs defend ERASED as being unpredictable/subtle and not forced.

I guess after enough time, people just forget the details in a story. Besides, being unpredictable doesn’t equate to being good or well-written. It’s usually the exact opposite.

Many of you guys seem to have missed out on what Aqua noticed. Normally, when one thinks of how Sarina was treated, and sees a drunk woman, they think of a deadbeat mother who pays no attention to her family. That was what he had assumed. But when he saw the picture, he realized, "Ah. So this is the type of person who behaves like a normal kind person to those whose existence is convenient to them, but won't hesitate to cut off their own child when they are useless."

If anything, this makes her even worse than what we thought. She's completely remorseless... She probably even tells herself she's a good person. At the time, she probably thought something like "oh well, I'm busy right now, they are taking care of her there at the hospital, I'll go check on Sarina some other time," repeatedly and never blaming herself, but deep down she just stopped loving her own daughter when she realized she would die, and those were just her justifications for not wasting any more time on her.
