See I like it because the writer is actually adding subtlety to the story. In most other "Oregairu-likes" most of the female admirers for the brother would be portrayed as 'fake bitches' to justify the MCs own personality.

Here though, they're just hella insensitive without actually being malicious.

And yeah, they're kind of dehumanizing him without actually meaning to and that's kind of why it stings more lol

I guess the thirst for the brother made them blind to the fact that they're pretty much misleading the younger brother and hurting his feeling. I would have scolded them then and there, and threaten them I would badmouth them to my brother for what they're doing.
