It's crazy how invested I am in this manga even though I've read a million School Life Rom-Coms before.

The MC has a simple design but actually has his complicated background touched upon (without being overly edgy or instantly resolved by FMC), and the FMC is interesting with her own quirks and charms, relying more on personality than design and/or sexual appeal to stand out.

Insane what good story telling, art, and characters can do in a genre that's saturated and typically mediocre

I like that his big bro is a likeable guy (with his own hangups with perfectionism), and his parents are supportive, but he still can't help being distrustful around girls because it makes sense.

That seems very out of character for the brother. I don't think we'll get more than just a few lines of MC being paranoid.

My theory is that the more substantial conflict at some point in the future will be girls befriending Izumi with the ulterior motive of trying to get closer to her boyfriend's brother, which we've already seen a little bit of in chapter 16.
