It's even worse because she backtracks and says that she wasn't kidding about her finding love when asked to clarify. Any normal person would assume she meant the "it's someone nearby" part as the joke after that. So it just sounds like "yeah, I'm serious about falling in love, but it's obviously not you lol"

At that point, it would've been better if she said the whole thing was a joke instead. At least it sounds less like she's mocking him for getting his hopes up
