I know the high school clique bullshit, but not once did I relegate myself to the outer circle because I had friends more popular or more attractive to me. Relax, it's just a trope in manga. There are depressed and introverted boys in Japan, but it's just a writing device for this genre of manga. It's not a true reflection of Japanese high school boys, similar how any teenage character trope in Western writing is reflective of boys on the other side of the pond. Consider it as a indulgent fantasy that hook readers in Japan.
