That one normally dresses like as such, does not make it not cross-dressing.

I think the Japanese terminology implies something that is not regularly done (as in on an individual and social scale, as in an event that occurs just once or rarely), but he is refuting the individual scale in that he does do it and that he finds it part of who he is rather than a one-off whim.

That last line would seem like "proof" to a certain group of people on the internet

The translation here is off. It should be something more like "I didn't figure you for a transvestite." "I'm not a transvestite, ..."

I've said more or less exactly this phrase before.

"Who are you crossplaying?"
"It's not cosplay; These are just my usual clothes."

@GodGinrai for your version it's just a conversation that consist of a thought someone spoke out and a denial of that thought, where as this releas's version consists of the same thought and a correction.
Yuuki doesn't mean to say "I'm not a transvestite" as "you're wrong in your guess", he means to say "I'm not crossdressing, this is my usual style".
That might sound similar but the core point is different.
A good translation is not the one that follows the original word for word but one that does interpret its meaning into another language without losing anything.
So, nah, you're wrong, this translation is more or less correct as it does interpret meaning of the original sentence.

@trapsarebetter the point here is that he doesn't dress to look like a girl which is what transvestites do, rather he dresses in a way that makes him reseble a girl.
A matter of intention.

@Shizomist No outsider knows a person's intentions, apart from espers. Even courts of law sometimes need to ponder if a homicide was a voluntary or involuntary manslaughter, or even a murder. If you have the intention as a measure of anything much, then a whole lot of things become meaningless. That's why the observable factors are used as a measure more commonly.

Like if you go to a restaurant and are served terrible tasting food. You complain to the staff, and are told the cook's intention was to prepare a good dish. It won't really make you any happier until you receive something you can actually eat.

Crossdressing is also something observed, as long as there's any observable difference between what are commonly men's and women's clothes (in a factory, for example, there could be zero difference in the overalls). What Yuuki is saying here is merely his own opinion as an individual, or his intention. It does nothing to what is observed.

@Kaarme I never said otherwise.
To anyone not knowing the context Yuuki might look like a transvestite, within the context it's clear that the look of it is not intentional in of itself. Is all.

@Shizomist ehh, care to explain the difference between "look like a girl" and "resemble a girl" to me? Those seem quite synonymous to me.

He's just a boy that likes fluff and frilly stuff and that wants to look cute, he doesn't want to be mistaken for a girl which is why he's always quick to correct such misunderstandings.

In short, he doesn't want to look like a girl, he wants to look cute.

@trapsarebetter The way I understood it was that "looking like a girl" is making an effort to look like a girl intentionally, while "resembling" is dressing up cute and in the process ending up looking like a girl.

@Shizomist
this translation is more or less correct as it does interpret meaning of the original sentence.

I didn't do any interpretation, the dialogue is a direct literal translation. It should be correct no matter what.
