This really is a great sequence. Guy needs to realize he's actually a good catch, outside of the slovenly habits he had at the start of this story. It's important to remember they're both broken in some way due to their pasts that have been alluded to before, if I recall. This story can't progress any faster than it has, or things would actually break.
And, at least up to this point, the anime has been relatively on-point with the pacing of the manga (this chapter is wrapping up Episode 5, for reference, and Ch.17 was already at the end of Episode 4), but I suspect it will start shifting faster after this sequence, and start skipping or truncating more scenes or moments as it accelerates towards the conclusion the anime had.
They've said it themselves that they only knew each other for about two months (maybe a bit more now that they're back at school) at this stage, but I suspect several months pass in the anime once we get to Episode 6 and progress all the way to Episode 12, and it sounds like things are still pretty dense with content for those months in the LN, and that it will presumably be the same for the Manga.
Just based on episode titles (and vague memories of my first watch of the anime), I know that Episode 8 marks the start of the new term and new school year, so that means Episodes 6 and 7 both have to account for the entirety of the winter term when episodes 1 through 5 were more than enough for only November and December. Just considering that, the anime probably had to make so many sacrifices in terms of what to tell going forward from the New Year arc.
But at least up to this point seemed to make it clear they've gotten extremely close, and they did a decent job of at least depicting most of the events so far, even if it pales in comparison to the presentation of those events in the manga.
