LOL, I ended up checking the raws because of how messed up the names were, and yep, they're just as weird in the raws. I DID figure out some of them.

"Gilgamesh" was taken (or locked out for a player name), so he did the next best thing:
ギル = Gil
ギノレ= Ginore, but if you imagine the second and third characters are smooshed together, you can see where they got it. It's like using "cl" in place of a "d"

"Monkey Dive Sasuke" is a play on "Sarutobi Sasuke", a legendary ninja. "Saru" = "monkey" and "tobi" = "jump", so someone probably got "Monkey Jump Sasuke" first, and he settled for "Monkey Dive"

"Mentalist" uses kanji for "Menta" (-ta being a symbol used sometimes in male names) and spells "list" phonetically. Just a fun little crossover.

Seems about right for MMO names in my experience.

I get they're trying to be unique, but damn, put some thought in it!

These are players, the mispellings are them not being the first to try that name, this is what happens whenever you try to use an actual name in an MMO.

It's a bit surprising that they're not even suspecting anything atm, or even making comments about it. Like we see Wayne here thinking of catgirl when he's talking about "Rare", but that was from after the tournament. During the tournament, Rare wore the exact same armor she's wearing right now.

Like they don't have to be suspicious that it might actually be Rare in there, but someone should at least comment on Rare + this "final boss" having the same gear.

At the time she was actually wearing the armor, so her player name would show above her head, now that it's giant she's probably piloting it either remotely, or is so deep inside that her name doesn't shine through.

Hmm…so it’s like the Japanese equivalent of using leetspeak or puns in English to circumvent the issue of “someone already got my name”, then. In that sense, I guess G1lgamesh / Gllgamesh (double L) would work as well…providing it’s not explicitly stated that someone actually already got those first as well, hence “Gealgamesh”?

I'm not 100% sure why they went with "Gealgamesh"; he's literally "Ginoregamesh" in the raws, if it was me I'd probably have gone with "GiI_gamesh" or similar, using capital "i" and the underscore to a.) imitate the trick he used in the Japanese and b.) capture some of how awkward it looks in the Japanese as well.

But it ain't my place to nitpick, I just like sharing some of the stuff that can get lost in translation. ^_^

Are you referring to the monsters having evolved? Because I'm not sure what that has to do with my point, when my point is "the armor she's wearing now looks the same as when she was in the tournament, it's odd that nobody's commented on that when they're all already talking about Rare". Nobody saw her actual body in the first place during the tournament (why deceiving Wayne into thinking the catgirl was Rare worked), so it doesn't matter that Rare evolved, and the rest of her faction isn't related to the point either. The only thing that would matter is if her armor itself somehow evolved / looked different, but far as I can tell it's the same armor (though she did enlarge herself here).

That's a fair point I'd forgotten tbh, but it still doesn't really change the argument since we've seen both and as far as I can tell it isn't visually distinct to its last incarnation, like:

as far as I can tell, it's visually the same, which is what the adventurers would see. It doesn't really matter from their POV if the armor's secretly a new type of monster or not.

How do they not realize their enemy is Rare? They were all defeated by the same suit of armor back during the tournament in Chapters 5 and 6.

I think it would make more sense to suspect that this is the boss that drops the gear that Rare used in the tournament.
This raid boss is larger than players but has the same gear (visually at least), so in MMO terms, it would be the more reasonable conclusion.

This assumes two things.
First, that they've already seen all that Rare was able to do at the time.
Second, that Rare hasn't improved since then.

So, good luck taking down just one to begin with.

Eh, not the worst official TL i’ve ever seen. INKR is know to fuck up a lot of that (some are comparable to speedscanners in quality). There’s also the infamous Re:Monster vol 1 TL fuckup (i have the printed version and that wasn’t a first print. They just never bothered to fix it until vol 2/3 ).
