Hmm... assuming he wants long-range damage capabilities, he could probably make a repetitive crossbow and make it somewhat closer to a railgun, by vibration (not sure how railguns work, but hey, closest comparison I could think of).
For reload, just slap a bit of wood / metal / dirt on the crossbow and transform it into ammo.

The concept of a railgun is using a magnetic force to suspend a ferrous metal till the magnets are charged and the 'slug' is launched at high speeds. It's the concept of having a friction-less barrel. By having it vibrate at Ultrasonic frequencies just makes it better at armor piercing.

So yes, he can have a 'junk' repetitive crossbow that make the Fallout 3 Rock-It Launcher look like a child's toy.

So, yeah. He can form metals like he wants and reinforce them. Also his class is all about alchemy, which strongly implies a hidden talent (or not even that hidden) for chemistry. Why doesn't he already think about building different types of guns. His life might be in danger. And when a person from our world thinks about weapons, he/she would also think about firearms. Especially when the term "magical gun" is mentioned.

Ch5 would have been out last week but I was assured ReaperScans was working on it. They also shared a screenshot which depicted this chapter had already been translated on 5/23 but they were just too busy this whole time. They also immediately said afterwards that "they weren't actually busy and just like delaying chapters on purpose to get a reaction out of readers." Although I waited a while for ReaperScans before attempting to translate chapter 5, I just don't want to be anywhere close to their work or community. Good luck waiting for ReaperScans to upload intentionally delayed chapters as I'm not touching this series.

TLDR; ReaperScans delay chapters and apparently enjoys mocking readers
