well the whole point is so he doesn't have to deal with her dad. think about how much of a scheming piece of shit luvelia's dad already is; if peter actually broke up with her, i'm sure that guy would try even harder to ruin pete's life lmao. i guess at the end of the day, this is really a story about how taking the path of least resistance often ends up going poorly
