if you re-read the first chapters, it almost feels like a different manga with a different character

Not really a different manga, it's just that their interactions changed a lot after Riko realized her love for Ooyama (more nervous and jumpy dialogue, lots of blushy blushy faces and tsundere aggressiveness) and now after realizing he loves her too (the fluffier, sweeter and mellower latest chapters). The first chapters were all friendly teasing and banter, of course that's bound to change a bit with romance.

The parents have completely given up at this point, they know that Riko picked her hubby and there's no turning back for the lovey dovey steamy couple to be.
I'm expecting them to take her to his house after graduation, and while in a very formal but desperate dogeza beg him to please take care of their adorable stupid daughter.

That would actually be a great story. Them moving in together into an apartment, getting a cat, dealing with Ooyama going to college and working part time while Akutsu gets a job. Maybe she would have a new job every week. Or she could work with her mom at the supermarket. Maybe she could take her breaks with the coworker that likes to smoke....

I would love that SoL/comedy/drama series.
