I thought the classic was for the replacement to be considered skilled and usually point out how weak the party actually is, especially when the replacement is a support role. Some being more vocal about it than others. I only recall a couple where the replacement agreed that the kicked out member was "incompetent" and I think those filled a different role.

I was surprised the new healer cowered with the other members when the leader snapped after she snapped at the party. I thought she would be more assertive after her roast.
