You thought I was avoiding the topic or trying to break the tradition of making a useless thread? Fear not for I created my own Questions & Answers (I don't get the AMA stuff) for anyone who dares testing their own curiosity. I chose my 2019 message because it was the same as the year I created the account, so once in a lifetime unless I hack MangaDex for a ransomware, I don't need those fake Internet numbers. Of course, I'll have to start answering some questions you all have and I can read from my own screen, so first of all the most important: my MangaDex birthday is not my real one. The second one is pretty obvious, I had to wait for April Fools' to pass so I got your attention with a "totally not an April Fools' joke" to bait you in. Now, an intermission for our sponsors, the face reveal:

That's right, I am Hayao Miyazaki and I am here to sue MangaDex for copyright infringement on behalf of many studios and better crawl to the hole you come from because we are going to push a law here in Japan so we can prosecute every single user from piracy sites.

I am sorry, I am neither photogenic nor gullible to post sensible info on a public site.

Well, well, we are getting into real stuff so let's continue with more FAQ that you'll have to dissect to discern which part is true or false, because otherwise it'd get boring. As you know, my favourite genre is isekai and I think everyone should read specifically shoujo like Magic Knight Rayearth (the mecha part only makes it better) or even reverse harem like Fushigi Yuugi. Did I say mecha? Oh yes, mecha and SF, it definitely has not to be Evangelion or similar trash, where you can have Mazinger Z, Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu, Megazone 23, Kaze no Na wa Amnesia, Grey: Digital Target or the series of Leiji Matsumoto (to name some but few). What else is there... oh right, shonen. Just for hulky bodies, so Jojo or Danberu nan Kiro Moteru? can fit in there, I don't need skimmy, spineless or ghastly teenagers. If I want teens acting cute or fragile there's bishonen. I could comment every genre but remember: I only read yuri to comment and criticise them later, only professional reasons.

I think it's time to leave the floor for the common folk, you'll know if I try to dodge any question but I am a very straight-forward person so I'm prone to answer anything that doesn't endanger my survival. Just a small anecdote: I started editing that very year as I mentioned in the past to help with a series that needed an editor, and even if I improved I never got as good as I needed to be, but I learnt how to fake it. In return, I could bring to light many one-shots and made more prolific a couple of groups to share stuff I love. Ironically enough, what I did better was proofreading, can you imagine it? In Galaxy Degen Scans were delighted it (yes, that shitty isekai group, I recommend only the top A & B). Alright, you can go to bed Dav and Ant.

Pie or cake? (Also, given the current PFP, favorite pastry?)
Preferred method for starting a fire?
Strangest thing you've ever done involving a motor vehicle (that you're able to talk about)?

I definitely expected the first question, so

Pastry you say, huh? We have a lot of pastries here, since our sweets are mostly baked so it's hard to pick one. Since blackerries are my favourite fruit probably a good Blackberry Pie would score a 10, but I wouldn't say no to croissants or coronets. So I'll go with two pastries from here, "ensaimada" (small or big) and "tortada" (it may be from almonds or different dry fruits):

I like starting fires using traditional methods, so basically what you'd find in Yuru Camp: collecting branches and pinecorns, light it with a cooking lighter and gently blow it inside the hut you've created with the branches (you can add later the cut logs). Although I have nothing against using a lot of gunpower (I prefer normal fireworks).

Last but not least, about a motor vehicle event I lived first-handed... I guess driving for an hour with a dead engine that for some reason it managed to restart and stop as it pleased? Going uphill all the way, I must say. The last stretch the motor stopped working at all, but as we got to move it downhill the rest of the road was completed just with potential energy (the car was obviously not parked at our garage, though).

Are you really love isekai? Which one you choose if both drowning, isekai or yuri?
How's life sensei? Hope you find your happiness.

There are a lot of sensei, which one of them could it be? Better ask Arona-chan.
The isekai part was meant for a joke, but there are a few isekai I like, specially those featured by an Oji-san (like A or B). So of course I'd jump to save yuri, but you can have both sometimes (for instance series A, B and C).
Life, huh? If I could live only on sweets it'd be delicious (well, not necessarely sweets, just my favourites), but it is too extensive to define. As Aristotle would say, someone else will judge it if it was a happy one once I stop adding more quotes.

You've clearly rampaged today... okay, let's see... my current MD list is at 615 titles so I guess... between 800-900? Or more, definitely less than 1,000. Well, maybe if we add untranslated ones I go past that, I can't simply keep track of that. For research purposes, let's say 1,200.
Favourite anime, of any genre? That's a hard decision indeed. Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu is probably my favourite, at least if we speak about a long one. If you want a really short one, watch Inferno Cop (this is not a suggestion, it's an order).

You're cool. Not a question, but hey.
Hmm.
How about... Do you have any video games (console or computer) that you play over and over?

So, what was your entry drug into Manga/Anime? What work was the first you consciously consumed as japanese Media?

And, what series caused you to become a fan of Yuri?

There are several videogames I've played for a long time even if I no longer do, but I always preferred games with a proper end. For the ones I've probably spent more time in, I'll make a comprehensible list:
  • For multiplayer videogames of the 90s the most I played were from Nintendo 64 (up to four players at once) since hanging out with friends included that, in that sense it'd be Mario Kart and Smash Bros (even just before the pandemic we'd still play once in a while). In addition to that, I guess Starcraft as a computer game (still my favourite from Blizzard).
  • 2000s videogames had its time, with Age of Empires II & Mythology (like Starcraft, they have been returning games) and more or less in equal measure MMOs like Ragnarok Online and World of Warcraft (when people played for fun). Of course, Total War: Rome (including Barbarian Invasion and Alexander) is a really important game here.
  • For the 2010s it was more about replaying old titles and switching between multiple games, since I still did LAN parties and had different groups to play with, so if I have to pick normie meme games... I guess Heroes of the Storm and Excel simulators from Paradox when at least worked (CK II & EU IV essentially).
  • In the current decade I no longer play those recurrent games and the only I've spent a lot of time is Total War: Warhammer 3, since I play multiplayer with friends.

Hah, you've been repeating the same question over and over! Anyone in my country who started watching anime in the 90s (there was no manga btw, except for some occasional releases) would do the same with USA animation, unconsciously. It was pretty usual having Doraemon and Sailor Moon at the morning, Ranma and Dragon Ball (original + Z) for lunchtime and other series at different times of the day, not 24/7 of course but a good amount for that time (hentai after midnight).

To be honest, I'm not sure. In the mid 2000s I stopped watching anime until 2013-2014 when I started rewatching some of my favourite series and then reading manga, stuff like Jojo Bizarre Adventure since the new animation was being released over the years. I for instance watched Utena in the 90s, but I've never considered that yuri (it's just a shoujo series), for actual yuri series that would be Shoujo Sect and Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o (I can't stand that fake Christian yuri unless it's parodied after all). For more all publics yuri, this OVA is still one of my favourites (as I love the manga of Kase-san).

Edit: I forgot about Shin Chan for lunchtime as well, that was really good stuff.

since we've necro'd an AMA...
if you had to erase 3 genres of manga/anime (not the obvious ones that shouldn't really exist in the first place bc that would be too easy) what would they be
Oh, you too the same question! Not the obvious ones you say... (I won't say nowadays shounen/fantasy then). Alright, my picks are Mecha Porn (from EVA to 2010s slop), Power Fantasy (mainly series that combine Henshin with Urban Fantasy in a "serious" way) and Kaibutsu in general.
