Man, when i remember that the first time i read this series i immediately dismissed this because i thought that Seth was cliche shounen MC... i feel so happy in the end i resolve to read this again.

This personality of Melie is a little strange to the continuity ( to me at least ) if this is just a third personality all would be easily explained but for some reason, i don't think this is the case, i think that violent Melie is yandere Melie... i think that the shock of failing and getting her sister killed altered her double personality, this one clearly loves and wants to stay close but does it in the yandere fashion the one we know tries always to get people to go away using her violent outburst, if this theory is right Melie infection can change to accept people as she matures as a person... or her infection is a little more complicated and things can get even more screwed up.

I love Dragunov character, i simply don't have enough eloquence ( and knowledge of english language XD ) to say how much his personality is well done if all the inquisition were like him things would be so much better because even if not all of them are like Konrad there are other types of douchebaggery and interests that warp their way of thinking. ( the way like Adriel looked at the King is a hint of the power struggle to the control in Bome )

The personality flip was originally described as something that reversed whatever she was feeling at the moment. Having fun leads to anger, but it was always pretty sketchy that no other personality had been shown. This seems to be an attempt to remedy that and bring her infection closer to its original description (depression and loss become giddy clingyness).

The other thing that seems different with younger Melie is she doesn't seem to have the little bird yet (which seems to change personalities when she switches too, so maybe it's related to her infection, and to what happened here?)

Boobrie doesn't really "switch personalities" when she switches too, he just likes angry Melie more because she's rough with him and he's a masochist. At least that's what it seems like to me.

Thanks for the upload! Interested to see more of the Melie flashback and possible 3rd personality (I noticed Ocoho did call it "This personality").

also I think Rol is right about Boobrie. I always got the impression he was in love with angry Melie kind of as a joke in the manga, not that he was switching personalities like she was. I do wonder if he will factor into this flashback though, or if he and Melie met later on.

@alacaelum actually I have a theory about the third personality, it might work like 「 」 (void SHIKI) in the light novel/anime series Kara no Kyokai

(I won't spoil more than that, but explain my theory below).
It seems that this personality helped her cope with her mother's violent behaviors and other villagers bullying her.
The "second personality" that is exactly the same as her sister might be the same personality actually... it's just that her infection "helps" her struggle with stress by switching personality depending the stressed involved (acting dumb and unconcerned when her mother acted violently against her / being a fierce and proud witch/warrior when she's under stress like her sister was).
That or she switched her "third personality" that we never saw before in the story with the one of her real sister ("absorbing" her personality as her own , so her sister got the "dumb yandere girl" personlity instead and was left as unconscious / presumed dead in her hometown, and she run away just after those events thinking she was really dead ?"

Also this is interesting to note that Melie and Boobrie didn't met yet at this point of the story, so there might be more about her background that we still don't know.

@Batora07 Very good theory, it explains better what i had in my head when i thought of mine, i do think her infection alters itself based on the external stimulus.
