Kind strange for helper kids to accept candy. They usually want coin for minor services. Though if they're actually paid well enough for what they do, candy might be enough. And that might be rare in that world and place.

That last quote totally isn't lacking any context at all. Can absolutely be taken at face value. Never seen this one get twisted around before. Especially not in this series.
