The pages of them just sitting around really channeled a moment that happens to almost everyone a couple of times in life when a parent sees beyond the adult they've become and sees the vulnerability and fragility of their child who is struggling to find who they really are.

Those pages also resonate really hard because it's a reality we're in - it's naïve to think of completely eradicating war, since as long as their disagreements, there will always be war. Many of us born and raised in first and second world countries are extremely fortunate to have not known the brutalities and horrors of war first hand. It's something we all take for granted.

@mahtan Kids can be pretty amoral, before developing them, but it's hella disingenuous to say they're worse for violence. Worse for lack of compassion possibly, but kids don't do things on the same scale.

Also nah, wars aren't really for anyone's interest, besides power and profit's interest I guess. The best case scenario of a war is it being a response to someone else doing something really bad, which is in it's own right internally 'war like', but most of the time it's just one side pretending the other side did something of that level of justification.

Also that line did seem a bit silly after showing those kids like that, but obviously he means on a grander scale, which isn't bad. This world is infinitely more ravaged by war than the real world, some kids can still smile and laugh but I'm sure there's plenty that aren't.

You are also wrong about wars. They are for many reasons with the most important ones being population control and acquisition of territory. Both were very important for maintaining a society. Another reason for war that is important but not as prevalent is the defense of ones population. Wars are in the interest on everyone.
