I think we got the flashback that he was one of the mercs that attacked Akira before, and survived as just a severed head.

You think this is bad? You haven't played Age of Wonders Planetfall then, there's a race called the Assembly, which is basically full of cyborgs, either willingly converted into machines or not, and they look freaky. Think galactic empire post-collapse, and that's what you get. (On the plus side, they can regenerate themselves by "scavenging")
