Because they don't get what they're reading lol. People like us get where Katsuya is coming from and we cut him some slack but others are just trashing him because they don't really get what the writer was trying express to them. You know how they say "obvious is not obvious"? Its true for many things. They read the manga. They understood what happened but they don't really lol Ive seen many comments about those isekai or those do over stories where the MC restarts and have a goal he wants to complete but then there's a character that never was on his radar ends up taking notice of him and sometimes getting in the way. To the reader's perspective we think its annoying, but to the CHARACTERS, they don't have our perspective. The readers would trash those characters so bad-even using slurs and derogatory words. These brats..are going through that right now.

I haven't read the WN or LN but people were saying that event played out quite differently than in the manga. Not really sure what the intent is - throw the novel readers off the trail and set up a diverging plot line? Make Katsuya somewhat more reasonable but have things end up poorly regardless? Seems like a wasted effort if they try to make him more tolerable just to force the fight anyway.

When they say "Must be able to handle SFX", they mean they expect the candidate to be able to remove the Japanese sound effects and redraw the background art. Depending on the team they might be responsible for adding the sfx back in English.

Believable? Just about every character in this manga (including the MC) seems not to understand that their job is risking their lives for money. Everyone's eager to be the one to take the most heat, rather than get in, do the work, get out in one piece and get paid. It's not like they should be hungry for recognition, both sides are trusted with more and more responsibility with each assignment. It's just petty grandstanding and taking risks for nothing.
